The death toll from the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has risen to 1,033, while the total number of confirmed infections has reached 2,536, according to the country's latest public health data.
The updated figures were released by the National Institute of Public Health, which continues to monitor the outbreak as health authorities work to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
According to the latest report, 50 new Ebola cases were identified on Monday alone in the eastern provinces of Ituri and North Kivu, two regions that have remained at the center of the outbreak.
Health officials say the response has been complicated by ongoing armed conflict, insecurity, and limited access to healthcare services in several affected communities. These challenges have made it more difficult for medical teams to conduct contact tracing, provide treatment, and carry out vaccination campaigns aimed at slowing transmission.
Authorities continue to deploy healthcare workers and emergency response teams to affected areas while urging local communities to cooperate with disease surveillance and prevention measures.
The Ebola virus causes severe illness and can spread through direct contact with infected bodily fluids. Rapid detection, isolation of patients, and community awareness remain key components of efforts to contain the outbreak.
Public health authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely as measures remain in place to reduce further transmission and protect vulnerable populations.
