Officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) have arrested a suspect in Kotahena after recovering a large quantity of illegal narcotics and cash during a targeted operation.
According to police, the arrest was made during a raid carried out based on intelligence information received by the Police Narcotics Bureau.
During the operation, officers allegedly seized approximately 3.94 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ‘Ice’, along with 215 grams of heroin.
In addition to the narcotics, police also recovered Rs. 600,000 in cash, which investigators believe may be linked to drug trafficking activities.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and is currently being questioned by investigators.
Authorities have launched further inquiries to determine the origin of the drugs, identify possible associates, and establish whether the suspect is connected to a larger drug distribution network.
The Police Narcotics Bureau stated that investigations are continuing and that legal action will be pursued under the relevant provisions of the law.
