Litro Gas Lanka Limited has announced that domestic LP gas prices will remain unchanged for the month of June, providing relief to consumers despite rising international energy costs and continued pressure on the local currency.
In a statement issued on Thursday (05), the company confirmed that it has decided not to revise the prices of domestic gas cylinders this month, even as global liquefied petroleum gas (LP gas) prices continue to increase and the Sri Lankan rupee experiences depreciation against major foreign currencies.
The decision comes at a time when many households are closely monitoring the cost of essential goods and services amid ongoing economic challenges and fluctuations in global energy markets.
According to Litro Gas, the company's ability to maintain existing prices is the result of disciplined financial management, improved operational efficiency and sustained growth across multiple business segments.
The company stated that strong sales performance and profitability from its broader operations have helped build sufficient financial stability to absorb increasing costs without immediately passing the burden on to consumers.
Industry observers note that global LP gas prices are influenced by a range of factors including international energy demand, geopolitical developments, shipping costs and supply chain conditions. These factors often have a direct impact on domestic gas pricing in countries that rely on imported energy products.
Despite these challenges, Litro Gas said it remains committed to balancing commercial sustainability with consumer affordability, particularly during a period when many families continue to manage rising living expenses.
Under the pricing structure that will remain in effect throughout June, a 12.5kg domestic LP gas cylinder will continue to be sold at Rs. 4,765 within the Colombo District.
Meanwhile, a 5kg cylinder will remain priced at Rs. 1,910, while the 2.3kg cylinder will continue to be available at Rs. 890.
Consumer groups have welcomed the decision, noting that maintaining stable cooking gas prices could help ease financial pressure on households already affected by recent increases in fuel and transportation costs.
Economic analysts also point out that stable energy prices can contribute to reducing inflationary pressure by helping households manage monthly expenses and preventing further increases in the cost of certain goods and services.
Litro Gas stated that it will continue monitoring global market developments and local economic conditions while making future pricing decisions based on prevailing market realities and operational sustainability.
