The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has approved the final report recommending the establishment of a Sri Lanka Education Council.

The approval was granted during a committee meeting held in Parliament under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who also serves as the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.

The final report was presented by Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe, who chairs the subcommittee appointed to formulate recommendations for establishing the proposed Education Council.

According to the Ministry, the report is based on the findings and recommendations of an expert committee appointed to study the feasibility and framework for creating a national Education Council aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka's education system.

Committee members also reviewed the report in detail, offering observations and recommendations before unanimously approving the final document.

The meeting was attended by Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Members of Parliament, and senior officials representing the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.
