Police have revealed further information regarding the death of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne, who was found dead at his residence in Thalahena, Malabe, on the morning of July 17.

Authorities said the 63-year-old died following an incident at his home. Investigators are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the death, and two police teams have been assigned to conduct inquiries.

The former IGP was taken to the Colombo East Base Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon admission, according to hospital sources.

Police are also looking into recent personal and family-related issues that may be relevant to the investigation. As part of the inquiry, investigators are reviewing information relating to an ongoing family legal dispute involving his son's household.

Meanwhile, Kaduwela Magistrate Arun Indrajith Buddhadasa visited the residence to inspect the scene, while Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya also visited the house later in the day.

Police said investigations remain ongoing and that further information will be released as the inquiry progresses.
