The case filed against former Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne and two other defendants over allegations of causing a financial loss to the government through the leasing of the Mutwal Fisheries Harbour to a private company in 2012 was taken up for further hearing before the Colombo High Court today (September 14).
The case was heard before Colombo High Court Judge Mohamed Mihail.
During today's proceedings, the prosecution presented witnesses before the court and their evidence was recorded. Defence counsel subsequently conducted cross-examinations of the witnesses.
The case concerns allegations that the defendants caused a financial loss to the government in connection with the decision to lease the Mutwal Fisheries Harbour to a private company in 2012.
Following the recording of evidence and cross-examinations, the High Court adjourned further proceedings.
The case is now scheduled to be taken up again for further hearing on November 17.
The proceedings remain ongoing, and the allegations against the defendants are yet to be determined by the court.
