The Department of Meteorology says several parts of Sri Lanka are expected to experience showers today (05), with wet weather forecast for the central highlands and surrounding areas.

According to the latest weather advisory, several spells of showers are expected in the Sabaragamuwa Province and the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts throughout the day.

Meanwhile, a few showers are also forecast in the Western and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

The Meteorology Department has also warned of strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North Central, and North-Western provinces, in addition to the Ratnapura, Hambantota, and Trincomalee districts.

The public, particularly those in areas prone to strong winds and intermittent rainfall, has been advised to remain vigilant and follow weather updates issued by the Department of Meteorology.
