The West Indies have announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka, with all three matches scheduled to be played at Sabina Park in Jamaica between June 3 and June 8.
Captain Shai Hope will continue to lead the Caribbean side as they begin an important phase of their preparations for qualification to the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The squad has been strengthened by the return of several key players. Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph returns to ODI cricket after recovering from a back injury that kept him out of action since July 2025. Spinner Gudakesh Motie has also been recalled after missing the New Zealand tour last year.
Pace bowlers Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales have also been included, although team management has indicated that their workloads will be carefully monitored throughout the series.
Another major boost for the hosts is the return of explosive left-hander Shimron Hetmyer, who impressed during this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign. Hetmyer is expected to join the squad ahead of the third ODI.
West Indies head coach Daren Sammy said the team is determined to continue its strong home form while facing a disciplined Sri Lankan side. He emphasized the importance of collective performances as the team looks to establish consistency in ODI cricket.
Currently ranked 10th in the ICC ODI rankings, West Indies are aiming to improve their position and strengthen their chances of securing automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup.
