The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a 19-hour water supply interruption affecting several areas in the Gampaha District due to urgent maintenance work at the Karasnagala Water Treatment Plant in Attanagalla.
According to the NWSDB, the water supply will be suspended from 8.00 a.m. on June 16 until 3.00 a.m. on June 17.
The interruption will impact a number of towns and residential areas, including Minuwangoda, Gampaha, Mahara, Attanagalla and Nittambuwa.
Water supply will be temporarily suspended in Minuwangoda, Asgiriya, Udugampola, Opatha and surrounding areas. Residents within the Gampaha Municipal Council and Gampaha Pradeshiya Sabha limits, as well as those in Weliweriya, Belummahara and Rathupaswala, will also be affected.
In addition, water services will be interrupted in Maharagama, Sivaralumulla, Kirikiththa, Kinigama, Atikehelgalla and nearby localities.
The water cut will further affect residents living in the Ranpokunagama Housing Scheme, Urapola, Attanagalla, Bataleeya, Wathupitiwala, Nittambuwa, Veyangoda, Kalagedihena, Thihariya and Naiwala.
The Water Board has advised consumers to store sufficient water in advance and use available supplies carefully during the affected period.
