Sri Lanka's Department of Meteorology has forecast heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm in several parts of the country tomorrow (July 31), while warning of strong winds in multiple provinces and districts.
According to the department, showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Heavy rainfall of more than 100 mm is expected at some locations within these areas. Meanwhile, a few showers are also likely in the North Central Province.
The Meteorology Department stated that mainly dry weather is expected to prevail over the remaining parts of the island.
In addition, strong winds of 40 to 50 km/h are expected at times over the Northern, North Central, North-Western and Central provinces, as well as in the Ratnapura, Monaragala, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
Authorities have advised the public to remain alert, particularly in areas prone to flooding, strong winds and other weather-related hazards.
