Manori Sallay, the wife of former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay, has lodged a formal complaint with the National Authority for the Protection of Victims of Crime and Witnesses, alleging that her family has been subjected to surveillance.

According to the complaint, an individual dressed in civilian clothing and believed to be connected to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has repeatedly monitored her movements as well as those of her two children.

The complaint states that the alleged incident occurred when her 17-year-old daughter and 22-year-old son visited the Colombo National Hospital on June 20 to obtain information regarding their father’s health condition.

Manori Sallay claims that the individual followed the two children during their visit and allegedly used a mobile phone to photograph or record them without their knowledge or consent.

She has further alleged that the same individual had been observed on previous occasions near both the Colombo National Hospital and the Criminal Investigation Department premises.

In her complaint, Manori Sallay has requested the National Authority for the Protection of Victims of Crime and Witnesses to conduct an independent inquiry into the matter, identify the person involved, and determine whether the alleged surveillance activities were carried out under official instructions.

The complaint comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving former SIS Director Suresh Sallay, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department in connection with investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.

Sallay remains in CID custody under court orders and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Colombo National Hospital after reportedly commencing a hunger strike while in detention.

Authorities have not yet publicly commented on the allegations made in the complaint.
