Five suspects, including Anuda Janadith Bandara, the son of former State Minister Shanta Bandara, have been granted bail after being remanded in connection with an alleged financial robbery involving a Chinese national.
The suspects were produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on Sunday (July 27), where the magistrate ordered their release on personal bail of Rs. 500,000 each.
In addition to granting bail, the court imposed an overseas travel ban on all five suspects pending further legal proceedings.
The group was arrested on July 21 over allegations that they were involved in the robbery of Rs. 20 million (Rs. 2 crore) from a Chinese national.
Investigations into the incident are continuing, while the suspects remain subject to the conditions imposed by the court.
