Former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay remains under medical care at the Colombo National Hospital and continues to refuse food and water, according to his wife, Manori Sallay.
Speaking to journalists after visiting the hospital on Sunday, Manori Sallay said her husband remains in a critical condition and is being closely monitored by medical staff.
She stated that Sallay has not resumed eating or drinking and is currently receiving medical treatment, including intravenous fluids.
"He is still not eating or drinking anything. He remains in a serious condition. Doctors are closely monitoring him, and he is currently on saline," she said.
Family members have confirmed that Sallay remains hospitalized and continues to receive treatment under the supervision of medical professionals.
Suresh Sallay was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on February 25 in connection with investigations related to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. Following his arrest, he was held under detention orders while investigations continued.
Former Parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila previously claimed that Sallay had begun a hunger strike after alleging that he had been subjected to inhumane treatment while in custody. Family members who visited him in recent days also confirmed that he was refusing food and water.
According to reports, CID officers transferred Sallay to the Colombo National Hospital on Saturday night after concerns arose regarding his health while he continued his protest.
Hospital authorities have not publicly commented on his current medical condition, while investigations related to the case remain ongoing.
