The Sri Lankan Rupee continued its downward trend against the US Dollar on Thursday (12), according to the latest daily exchange rates released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

Based on the official figures, the buying rate of the US Dollar increased to Rs. 331.42, while the selling rate climbed to Rs. 341.36, crossing the Rs. 341 mark for the first time in recent days.

The latest exchange rates reflect a further depreciation of the Rupee compared to the previous trading day.

On June 11, the Central Bank reported the buying rate of the US Dollar at Rs. 327.67, while the selling rate stood at Rs. 337.82.

The increase in both buying and selling rates highlights the continued pressure on the local currency amid changing market conditions.

Exchange rate fluctuations remain closely watched by businesses, importers, exporters and consumers, as movements in the value of the Dollar can influence import costs, travel expenses and overall economic activity.

The Central Bank publishes daily exchange rate updates to reflect prevailing market conditions and foreign exchange trends.
