Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the second son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
The arrest took place after Yoshitha Rajapaksa appeared before the Bribery Commission on Monday to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation.
According to officials, the inquiry relates to matters concerning his admission to the Sri Lanka Navy and subsequent training at the United Kingdom’s Royal Naval Academy.
The investigation forms part of a broader probe being conducted by the Bribery Commission into allegations currently under review.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the arrest or the next legal steps in the investigation.
The Commission is expected to continue its inquiries as part of the ongoing case.
